Espresso Long Shot Recipe

This is not simply a double sized espresso. This shot has twice as much coffee and not just twice as much water.

This is made from two smaller shots of espresso created in an their own espresso extractions. If you have a larger machine you can produce both shots at once, providing you utilize the full amount of coffee grounds required for two individual shots.

2 each of 1.5 ounces (45 ml) freshly extracted espresso. Preferably 100% arabica beans, however some robusta blends are suitable.

Do not reuse the same grounds for the second shot of espresso! The second shot from the same grounds is referred to as a “sweet shot” and does not transfer sufficient amounts of oils and flavor to create a proper long shot.

1) Use 1 tablespoon (15 ml or 7g) espresso grind coffee per 1 ounce (30 ml) of water with most steam driven machines per shot. After steam evaporation waste this should yeild one espresso shot each time with the drink consisting of two separate extractions.
